Cape Cod Kennel Club Embezzlement Case Ends in Barnstable Superior Court

The Cape Cod Kennel Club’s treasurer from 2008-2012 has plead guilty in Barnstable Superior Court to Falsifying Bookkeeping Records and Larceny by a Single Scheme stemming from her theft of over 50 thousand dollars from the organization. At a plea hearing that took place on July 24, 2014 at the Barnstable County Superior Court, disparate sentencing arguments were made by the Cape and Island’s District Attorney and Cape Cod Criminal Defense Lawyer James Powderly who represented the defendant. While facing up to 15 years in state prison for the charged offenses, the defendant ultimately received a sentence which entails a 6 months period of incarceration at the Barnstable House of Correction followed by probation and repayment of the stolen money. The former treasurer will be eligible for release on parole after serving the first 90 days of her sentence.
