Police arrest maintenance worker for sexual assault

A man who works for a painting service company was apprehended by several police officers in South Yarmouth on Monday, August 19 in connection with a sexual assault he allegedly committed. 30-year-old Javier Zavilor peacefully surrendered to the police who found him just outside a house in Swan Pond Village on Alewife Circle.

According to reports, Zavilor allegedly made sexual advances against a woman who resides in one of the apartments where he was performing maintenance work. The woman reported the alleged crime a day before Zavilor was arrested to the Swan Pond Village administration office who, together with the assailant’s employer, cooperated with police in the investigation.

Additional reports state that Zavilor was previously deported at least a couple of times and has a hold departure order from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement until a court hearing has been made.

Unfortunately, assault and other sex crimes can result in significant penalties for those convicted of these crimes. Thus, if you have been charged with a similar offense in Cape Cod, contact attorney James Powderly at 508-343-0676 today. He can help you understand your legal options.
