Man suspected of drunken driving in Massachusetts

A man in Salem, Massachusetts was recently taken into custody for several offenses, including driving under the influence of intoxicants and domestic assault, an article of CBS Boston reported on October 31.

According to reports, Dexter Mitchell, 52, was driving on October 30 when he struck a woman and her two kids at the intersection of Washington and Bridge Streets. Mitchell, who was suspected of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reportedly fled the scene then returned. Information coming from police revealed that Mitchell approached the officers and told them he struck the victims. Arresting officers noted visible signs of intoxication from Mitchell and a bond of $2,500 was imposed on him. Mitchell entered a not guilty plea to the charges filed against him in his first court appearance.
