State police in Massachusetts announced that two dozen people were arrested and many more cited over the holiday weekend as a result of a “police surge” that took place on Route 24 and Interstate 195.
This past weekend marks the sixth week that increased patrols have taken to the roadways in order to prevent unsafe drivers from getting behind the wheel.
Over the weekend, officers arrested 10 drivers for drunk driving and 14 other drivers for multiple other infractions. Police also wrote 236 citations during that time. The additional police patrol was brought upon by a series of fatal crashes. Since the start of the initiative, 55 OUI arrests have been made.
