Police officer in Boston facing domestic violence charges

Tewksbury authorities recently arrested a Boston police officer on suspicion of physically assaulting a woman, an August 19 article on lowellsun.com reported.

According to reports, charges of battery and assault to a household member were filed against Patrick McCarthy after authorities arrested him on August 18. In a press release, Judge Ellen Caulo ordered McCarthy to refrain from getting close to the alleged victim the day after his arrest. The woman, whose name was withheld, reportedly went to Tewksbury Police at 8:25 p.m. on August 18 to report McCarthy for assaulting her. The Boston Police did not release a statement regarding McCarthy’s arrest as of press time.
