RECENT CAPE COD DRUG CASE: Hyannis man faces second heroin charge

September 12, 2011

HYANNIS — For the second time in two months, a Hyannis man was arrested on heroin charges by members of the Barnstable Street Crimes Unit.

Jimmy Lee Perry, 20, of Hyannis was arrested Saturday night when members of the unit were patrolling Fresh Holes Road. Barnstable Detective Sgt. John Murphy said the department has received numerous complaints that drug dealers are selling narcotics in the area.

Police said they recovered four grams of heroin and $2,985 from Perry. He was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute and ordered held on $10,000 bail pending arraignment today in Barnstable District Court.

Perry was arrested July 3, also by members of the street crime unit. He and another man, Marcus Bennett, 20, of Centerville, were each charged with trafficking heroin and conspiracy to violate the narcotics laws. Perry was released from police custody in July after posting $7,500 cash bail.
