RECENT CAPE COD ROBBERY: Cape man accused of robbing woman at ATM

September 17, 2011

EAST FALMOUTH – The police arrested a local man Thursday after he allegedly robbed an elderly woman at an ATM, according to the police and court records.

The robbery occurred at about 1 p.m. at the Bank of America ATM at 439 East Falmouth Highway, the police said.

Several witnesses at the scene helped the police identify Christopher A. Lambert, 23, of Trotting Park Road as the suspected robber, the police said.

Police and witness reports state the woman had just taken out $400 from the ATM when Lambert snatched the money out of her hands, ran to a Volkswagen Jetta and sped off.

Lambert was arrested at about 5 p.m. near Falmouth Hospital on an unrelated warrant out of Wareham District Court, the police said. He was arraigned Friday in Falmouth District Court on a charge of unarmed robbery of a person over age 60 and held in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail, according to court records.

Lambert faces a pretrial hearing Oct. 4.
